Developing Your CrossFit Warmup
Many people overlook the importance of a good warm-up, but on the same note I have seen some people warm up for like 30 minutes before they do any work. There is no secret warm-up that is going to be the best or most effective. There are just certain things a warm-up needs to accomplish and you should really be able to get it done in about 10 minutes.

Hierarchy of CrossFit (and crossfit like) Programming Websites
This post was inspired by one of my readers. When you are so engrossed in a community you often forget what people, who are new to the community, know and don't know. I would like to share some different websites that have to do with different crossfit programming. Not all the sites are directly affiliated with crossfit but it doesn't change the style of programming or its effectiveness.

How to Keep a CrossFit Workout Journal
A workout journal seems to be optional for a lot of people in the fitness community. This is surprising to me since everyone has some sort of goal but they don't really know where they are going or where they have been. A journal should not be optional and it can be a great tool to help you progress.

My Beef with CrossFit Rope Climb Substitution
The thing about the rope climb is it involves a lot of legs. Yea it is freaking badass to see someone climb a rope without the use of their legs, but it just isn't practical. I have and can ascend to the top of a 15ft. rope and I do not feel it is equivalent to 15 strict towel pull-ups. I actually think it is a lot easier to climb the rope.

CrossFit Strength
Whether you are just starting CrossFit or have been doing crossfit for awhile there is a lot of work involved to get that crossfit strength. Which ever category you are in I hope by now that you realize crossfit's heavy 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 workout every 6+ weeks is not sufficient for any kind of strength program. These programs below are no secret to most crossfitters, but I still want to throw it out there for those of you who are unfamiliar.

Video of the Week
Lest we forget that motivation is intrinsic. It is the guy with a 2:00 Fran time who did it alone in his garage that scares me more than the guy who did it with 30 people standing around yelling.

A Word on the CrossFit Body, I Mean Physique
You will not find many crossfitters who started crossfit to get the "crossfit body". Everyone has their own reason for doing crossfit, but the more people I meet the more I realize not many are after a certain physique. Sure some want to lose weight to look and feel better. I think CrossFit is more of WHAT can you do, not HOW you look when you do it.

3 Tips for Building That CrossFit Core Strength
It is no secret that CrossFit is not interested in doing crunches to try and get that crossfit core. Just go to their FAQs and you'll see what I mean. The idea is that all of the core lifts take enough midline stabilization that you do not need to do any ab work in your daily routine. I agree with this and I also do not think "abs" should be 30 minutes of someones workout...ever.

CrossFit Programming and the 4th Dimension
CrossFit Programming can be difficult to figure out. I know when I first transitioned to CrossFit I was wondering "How do I program this crap on my own!?!?". I spent hours reading and learning about how to program your own CrossFit regimen. A great read for this would be Greg Glassman's A Theoretical Template for CrossFit's Programming.

So You Want to Compete in the CrossFit Games: Part 1
This is part one of the series "So You Want to Compete in the CrossFit Games" and today we will be going over whether or not you are good enough to compete in the CrossFit Games. If you are just starting crossfit you have to know you probably have awhile before you will be good enough to compete. However, a lot of guys who are top crossfit games competitors were only doing crossfit for a few months before they went to the games. Rich Froning said he was only doing CrossFit for like 6 months before he placed 2nd in the 2010 CrossFit Games. Granted most people are pretty fit before they start crossfit. Some people would just say compete in the Open, but I say do your research first. Find out how good you are and tweak your training accordingly. It only happens once a year.

Crossfit WOD Strategy??
Crossfit is a lot of fun, espically when you first start and it is all you can do to get through a workout. Overtime you start setting benchmarks and strive at getting better. We all have our favorite crossfit WOD (workout of the day) or WODs. Attempting the same WOD over and over with no real strategy is not helpful, especially if you are looking to compete at any level.
