So You Want to Compete in the CrossFit Games: Introduction

The CrossFit Games has some of the sickest competition you will see in your entire life! Greg Glassman, the mad scientist, and his posse have created the ultimate proving grounds for fitness. I have seen guys completely change their fitness routine after seeing the crossfit games because they want to compete in THIS competition. They normally ask me, “Do you think I stand a chance?”, and I never discourage someone’s dream so I say, “If you work hard enough, it’s possible”.

I have decided to get to the bottom of this by doing a 3 part series (not including this intro) to help you find out if you can compete in the crossfit games. Over the next few days I will answer the following questions…
So You Want to Compete in the CrossFit Games:
- Part 1: Am I Good Enough to Compete in the CrossFit Games?
- Part 2: How Do I Start Competing in the CrossFit Games?
- Part 3: Training the Fittest on Earth: The Schedule of a Games Competitor
To get started we have to answer the even bigger question:
What are the CrossFit Games??
Th CrossFit Games are held once a year, normally in July, in California and is the proving ground for the fittest man and woman on earth. There are also team/affiliate events and the masters competition. The games exists to test fitness at every level. What is interesting about the CrossFit Games is that, unlike every other sport and competition, the athletes are unaware of what the events will be until they arrive at the competition. CrossFit prepares you for the unkown and unkowable and that is exactly what you get. The CrossFit Games has escalated from a few guys at a ranch seeing who is in better shape to 10’s of thousands of competitiors trying to prove they are the fittest alive, in just a few short years. I have seen the complete transformation from the games inception to today and it is quite impressive. Here are two videos that can explain it way better than I can.
