I want to start this post off today by saying this is my proudest moment of running End of Three Fitness. I’m not proud of myself. I am proud of the End of Three Fitness community. I am proud to be a part of the most incredible group of people on the web. I am proud of you.
Why??
The Fallen Hero Project is complete.
Let me say that again, the Fallen Hero Project is complete!!
I am going to ask you upfront, being Memorial Day and all, if you think this is a worthy cause.SHARE THIS POST!! People should know what this community has accomplished, and how the Fallen have been honored.
Some of you are scratching your heads asking, “What’s the Fallen Hero Project?â€.
Don’t worry, when the Fallen Hero Project was announced at End of Three Fitness, in November, there were only about 1,000 rebels amongst the End of Three Fitness Revolution. Since then, we have doubled in size to over 2,000 email subscribers, meaning that half of you could have no clue as to what this project is. So here is the short of it.
The Fallen Hero Project Explained
Maybe a little known fact to some of you, I am an active duty military officer, my father is a retired Colonel, who served 20 years in the United States Army, my brother is a wounded warrior who served close to eight years on active duty in the United States Army.
I don’t emphasize those facts because my views are my own, and not the views of the Department of Defense.
I had an idea a long time ago, to honor the fallen. I wanted to do a hero workout everyday until I got to 5,000,000 lbs lifted, 500,000 reps performed and 50,000 meters moved. I realized this was going to be an epic project, so I decided why not ask for help from the End of Three Fitness army.
And you guys stepped up big time.
The FHP breakdown:
-
Purpose: Raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project and honor fallen heroes
-
The project ran from November 11, 2012 (Veterans Day)
-
The project ended May 27, 2013 (Memorial Day)
-
Goal: Collectively complete 5,000,000 pounds lifted, 500,000 meters ran/rowed and 50,000 reps completed.
Check out the website FallenHeroProject.com for more information.
The only way your reps, weight or meters were counted was by completing CrossFit Hero workouts.
Totals were calculated based off of the workout you completed and then they were added to the overall total.
This was a call to all, not a call to CrossFitters, I just admire CrossFit’s hero workouts. People who have never done CrossFit in their life helped in this effort.
Well we blew through our goals!!
As a community we…
-
LIFTED 5,468,491 POUNDS to honor the fallen.
-
RAN OR ROWED 607,771 METERS to honor the fallen.
-
PERFORMED 200,269 REPS to honor the fallen.
From the original announcement…
When I started End of Three Fitness I only knew one thing for certainI wanted it to be about doing something; whether it was a DIY Project or an Eo3 Challenge I wanted it to be different than other fitness websites.
Well guys, we are different, we did something, and we did something huge!
Thanks.
