Equipment for Tire Drags, Tire Pulls, and Reverse Hyper

CrossFit Equipment

Material Needed (for the build and for using):

  • Tire
  • Drill
  • Exercise Ball
  • Truck Straps or Rope
  • Old Backpack

Step 1:

Acquire a tire. I found mine sitting in a field behind a shopping center. Kind of random but it works for me. Start looking out for them and you will see them all over the place. You could also call a local tire shop and they will probably give you an old beat up one for sure.

Step 2:

Drill a hole in the tire.

Step 3:

Put the hook of the truck strap through the hole. If you are using a rope. Get an eye bolt, two bolts, and two washers. Put the eye bolt through the hole bolt and washer on either side of the tire. Secure the rope to the eye bolt.

Using Your New Equipment

Tire Drags:

I normally put a kettlebell or two on the inside of the tire for added weight. Then I hook the straps to my old backpack and the hook goes on the tire. Now you can drag the tire all over the place. See Picture at the top of the post

Tire Pull:

Simple enough. Strap connected to the tire and pull!!

Reverse Hyper:

There is one catch to this, you will need something to put your tire on top of, but if you built a Plyometric Box it works perfectly. After you have purchased your ball just blow it up, put the tire on the box, and the ball goes in the tire. Enjoy reverse hypers. Good luck adding weight, but it works for now.
