I don’t know about you, but at the end of a year, I feel like a racehorse caged behind the starting line…
…just waiting for the gun to go off and the gates to open…
Not because there is anything magical about the first of January, but rather I force myself (with the help of my family) to take a massive break at the end of the year.
This break, while 100% necessary, makes me pace with anticipation to get back AT IT, to get better, and to chase my goals!
This is a great way to start anything, and it just so happens to be the way I will start 2017.
But another thing it does is help me take 5 minutes to reflect on the previous year in fitness, business, and personally.
So I wanted to update you on the “best of” in 2016 from the perspective of End of Three Fitness.
In saying that, the #1 BEST THING about 2016 absolutely was and is the END OF THREE FITNESS COMMUNITY!!!
If you’re reading this…THANK YOU!!!
Now, to 2016!
The 10,000…
First, I have to give an update on the 10,000 goal.
A few months ago I revealed a major goal for me and End of Three Fitness, and that is to help build 10,000 Better Humans in the next three years. You can read about that in its entirety here.
But here is the update….
We started tracking this goal in May 2016 and at the end of 2016 so far we are up to…
- 1,785/10,000 Better Humans Built
I’m pretty pumped about this progress!!
We collect this data in a few different ways, and if you haven’t been asked (if we’ve helped make you better) you will in 2017, for sure!!
Top 3 books of 2016…
I burn through a lot of books…
I shoot for one new book every 7-14 days, and I get that done through listening to them primarily on audible. In fact, if you want to get on my reading schedule, you should be listening to the betterhumanology podcast where I recommend a new book each week.
I will say books at this rate is a war of attrition. Meaning sometimes I don’t get a lot out of some books and some books are amazingly actionable.
So a few things before my Top 3…
- This is top 3 of 2016, not all time…
- These are listed as top 3 due to the fact that I TOOK ACTION from having read the book, not just an “interesting concept to think about”…
#1… —> The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks
#2… —> Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday
#3… —> The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
Top 3 workouts of 2016…
I put in a lot of training sessions in 2016.

#1… —> MURPH at My House
In early November, I emailed everyone at End of Three Fitness to see who wanted to come to my house and do MURPH. A few brave souls showed up and it was a great time!!
#2… —> MURPH at Lake Tahoe
The workout was pretty standard. The scenery was not. I took the picture below right after I finished MURPH.
#3… —> Double MURPH
Double MURPH, with a vest, in Florida in July…Pretty brutal. Also pretty memorable.

Rather than picking my favorites, I let the stats pick these for me. These were the most-read articles in 2016.
