A quick note before you guys dive into Emily’s (my wife, for those who don’t know) post. I had two of these frappuccinos yesterday, one caffeinated and one decaf…THEY ARE AMAZING!!!
Jerred and I love going to get coffee on the weekends, when we’re headed on a road trip, or before a big day. I always do decaf but there’s still something about coffee that perks you right up and makes you feel ready to take on the day. Coffee itself is Paleo, but it’s not quite the same drinking black coffee as it is drinking a nice creamy, sweet treat. We of course try to avoid these treats on our coffee excursions, but we admit to using a little half and half in our Americanos here and there. 😉 Frappuccinos were completely off my radar until I had a thought to try a Paleo version. This recipe is sweet, cold, and creamy – the perfect Paleo coffee treat, with a little protein boost. If you like mocha Frappuccinos, you have to give this recipe a try!
Paleo Mocha Frappuccino
- ½ cup coconut milk (we used canned)
- ¾ cup cold brewed coffee
- 2 scoops chocolate protein powder (we used Optimum Nutrition Natural Whey)
- 1 Tablespoon agave nectar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- About 3 cups of ice
Add everything to your blender and blend until smooth. We added a dollop of coconut cream on top and a drizzle of chocolate for the photo’s sake. Had to make it look like a real Frappuccino! Not recommended however, if you follow a strict Paleo diet. 😉
We really hope you guys enjoy this once-forbidden treat. I know we did!!
Give it a try! And let us know if you do!
