We have Jim Davis from the Good Athlete Project. He was a collegiate football player who also played arena football and european football. After his football career he went on to get a degree at Harvard, and then the Good Athlete project was born. Here is from their website:

What is a Good Athlete?

Have you ever shown up to a biology class shaking with excitement? because that will happen every Friday night this fall as High School football players prepare for their games. The platform of athletics is undeniably powerful, and we are on a mission to be sure it is used to its full potential. Through the lens of cognitive neuroscience and social theory, we capitalize on one’s desire to be Good Players to ensure they become a Good People.

We use research-based methods to teach for those things in life that truly matter: character, leadership, grit, growth mindset, conscientiousness, and yes, kindness.  Contact us to find out how we can support your team!

Also if you are interested in our training check out Garagegymathlete.com. We have one on one coaching available or just the programming depending on how serious you want to get. Our athletes have had some amazing results with our training, which can also view their stories on the website.

This week, we have Dr. Theresa Larson on the podcast!

Dr. Theresa Larson (aka “Dr. T”) has become one of the fitness world’s most sought-after experts on movement health. Dr. Larson earned her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Saint Augustine in San Diego, CA. A former Marine Corps Engineer Officer and Combat Veteran, Theresa also played professional softball in Italy as well as semi-professional softball in the United States, was an All- American Division I softball player at Villanova University, as well as a former Body-for-Life Champion. Theresa founded Movement Rx with her husband in 2013 in order to break free from the limitations that traditional physical therapy puts on practitioners and patients. The result was a company where skilled practitioners can authentically treat patients with the time, care, and movement education they deserve.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Dr. T’s transition from Marine to Doctor of Physical Therapy
  • How she lived and overcame a severe eating disorder
  • Why she launched a digital platform to help more humans
  • How to Dig out of Dark Places
  • Why journaling is such an important practice
  • How to change your state
  • Why high-touch in-person coaching will always be relevant
